Matched Betting Beginner's Interactive Tutorial
Once you have read our matched betting tutorial and familiarised yourself with
the basics of matched betting, we recommend that you follow the live working
example below, it shows a current matched bet for Totesport with real, up-to-date odds.
To assist you, you will find live screenshots of the betting screens for both
Betfair and Totesport, showing the selection to bet on and what odds to bet at.
The screen shots are updated every 5 minutes dynamically and replicate what you
will see on the actual betting screens.
You will need a total of £

Step 1 - Open your betting accounts

To avoid any complications, please check that all the correct funds are in place before you proceed to the next stage and place any bets.
Step 2 - Obtain the free bet without risk
Place a bet with the bookmaker to qualify for the free bet
This involves placing a £
back bet in Totesport, using the funds you deposited. Once this £
bet is placed, your account will be credited with a £
free bet.
The Match -
If the odds are displayed in fractional format (e.g. 9/4), we recommend that you change the odds display to decimal as that's how we advise odds. To do this simply use the drop down near the bottom right of Totesport as pictured
below.
In Totesport navigate to the "

Lay the bet in Betfair to cover all the outcomes and make the bet risk free
To cover all the event outcomes and make the bet risk free, you will need to lay
the same selection in Betfair that you backed in Totesport i.e. “Label

Now lay

NOT to win. To do this click the PINK box corresponding to

Remember when you lay a bet the stake is the amount you want to win and the
liability is the amount you stand to lose, you are offering odds to a backer.

Step 3 - Convert the free bet into withdrawable cash
Now that you have the free bet in your Totesport account we will place a bet with it to turn it into guaranteed, withdrawable cash - the final step of a matched bet. Note: it doesn't matter that the bet in step 2 (above) has changed from the one that you placed.
Place a bet using the free bet in Totesport
After placing the bet below, once it has been settled, you will be able to withdraw all funds along with the profit made.
You will need in your betfair amount to place this bet so please make a deposit if necessary.
